Apparently, some scientists claim that they have figured out how to reverse what's known as the Casimir force, whats the Casimir force you may ask?, our good pal Wikipedia answers:
"Is a physical force exerted between separate objects due to resonance of all-pervasive energy fields in the intervening space between the objects. This is sometimes described in terms of virtual particles interacting with the objects, due to the mathematical form of one possible way of calculating the strength of the effect."
So this means that this scientists have discovered a way to reverse such force causing that objects may repel each other rather than be attracted to each other.
And this lead us to the conclusion that hoverboards, hovercars and many more nice gadgets may be well under way.
