Life's Rich Pageant

I found this at the Choderhead Bazoo blog today, recommended.

If you say you haven't seen one of this specimens, you're either a liar or one one yourself...

She's sweet, she's sassy - she's swassy! Dripping with inexplicable attitude, this spectacular specimen can be found trolling the fashionable mega-stores and corporate storefront money-vacuums with a delightful disdain for her less fashionable inferiors - namely everyone. Usually observed in pairs or mini-packs, our accessory-laden subject offers a study in contrasts; despite her perky attire, her demeanor suggests that of ordeal and over-stimulation. Could it be that she aspires to the very same high-maintenance lifestyle of the trash-magazine celebrities she emulates so enthusiastically? Or are her and her army of lookalikes simply spoiled empty-headed twits with dangerously indulgent parents? You be the judge.

Nickles for Tooths

I've been reading the book "Rant", written by Chuck Palahniuk (Fight Club, Choke, etc.).
The whole book its a compilation of interviews with several people who knew the main character.
I haven't finished the book yet, but i found a article by a character rather interesting.
I speaks about some child myths, like the tooth fairy.
I'll write it down...

From the Field Notes of Green Taylor Simms (Historian):
In Africa, people don't believe in the Tooth Fairy. Instead, they have the Tooth Mouse. In Spain: Ratoncito Perez. In France: La Bonne Petite Souris. A tiny, magical rodent that steals teeth and replaces them with spare change.
In some cultures, the lost tooth must be hidden must be hidden in a snake or rat burrow to prevent a witch from finding and using the tooth.
In other cultures, children throw the tooth into a roaring fire, then later, dig for coins in the cold ashes.
By first believing in Santa Claus, then the Easter Bunny, then the Tooth Fairy, Rant Casey was recognizing that those myths are more than pretty stories and tradition to delight children.
Or to modify behavior. Each of those traditions ask the child to believe in the impossible in exchange for a reward. These are stepped-up tests to build a child's faith and imagination. The first test is to believe in a magical person, with toys as a reward. The second test is to trust a magical animal, with candy as the reward. The last test is the most difficult, with the most abstract reward: To believe, trust in a flying fairy that will leave money.
From a man, to an animal to a fairy.
From toys to candy to money. Thus, interestingly enough, transferring the magic of faith and trust from sparkling fairydom to clumsy, tarnished coins. From gossamer wings to nickels...domes...and quarters.
In this way, a child is stepped up to a greater feats of imagination and faith as he or she matures. Beginning with Santa in infancy, and ending with the Tooth Fairy as the child acquires adult teeth. Or, plainly put, beginning with all the possibility of childhood, and ending with an absoulute trust in the national currency.

Silly Rabbit, Trix are for Kids!

Another proof of the sadistic nature of children and corporate overlords.

Through my childhood, spent mostly in front of a tv set waiting for cartoons, i had the opportunity to watch how low can someone go to fill one of our most essential needs, eating.
I saw a tale of failure, sorrow, hunger and violence.

Im talking about the Trix commercials.

It is quite easy to assume the rabbit its a sexual predator, always following children asking for a taste...
But, if we see commercials carefully, we can clearly see hes just very very hungry.
Just look at him, paled face, skinny body etc.

The plot in the commercials its the following: Kids eating cereal, Trix appears and creates an incredibly complicated and mediocre plan to snatch away the cereal, the rabbit fails, and then the kids say "Silly rabbit, Trix are for kids!", rabbit leaves with the anguish of defeat still pumping in his avenging heart.

Don't judge him, perhaps he felt entitled to get a bowl because the cereal has his fucking name on it!

In 1976, there was a promotion wherein children had to vote whether or not Trix Rabbit should get to eat some of his own cereal. 99% voted so the poor son of a bitch could have some. Apparently, all the kids were ashamed the rabbit had been reduced to begging.
And yes, he had his moment now lost in the archives of television, and after that General Mills returned to his usual methods of oppression.

I'm still hopeful that he'll get his revenge someday...

Colors, Clowns and Cruelty

Now for something a little more serious.
Each year, groups of people come to town with a message of violence and slavery disguised in ridiculous costumes (no, im not talking about the coming of the Pope).

Circuses.

Those places children love, with their clowns, acrobats, magicians and animals.
But theres a dark side in circuses.

Everyone its aware that each living creature roaming this world has the basic right to live their lives freely and in harmony with their own nature. Circuses deny this right to animals.

It is unnatural for an animal to act in a way he isn't used to. Circuses robs them from their natural dignity.
Monkeys doing stuns and acts representing vulgar jokes worthy of a lowly clown.
Lions and tigers stripped completely from their dignity as they are forced act as docile kittens.
Mighty elephants, majestic and intelligent in nature, but forced by their trainers to wear feathers and walk on their hind legs.
And of course, the animals wont learn this tricks on their own.
Whips, electroshocks, collars, sticks and other instruments are implemented to "discipline" them; trainers learn from their mentors that fear is the tool to impose dominance.

Because of the tight schedules, circus animals are forced to remain in small cages for 20 hours daily. This restrains them from all their natural needs, tigers aren't able to hunt or run, elephants aren't able of take a mud bath, etc.

Most of the animals, due to the physical and psychological stress, they wont last more than half of the life they should live.

All this in the name of our "Entertainment".

This animals deserve their rightful liberty. They never choose to act in this vulgar places.

Don't support this acts of abuse and tyranny.

Thank you, single-member-of-the-audience, i hope this can open up a few eyes.

Cryogenetics has nothing on Giant Blocks of Glass

A 104 year old patent entitled "Method of Preserving the Dead" has been recently discovered.
It consists basically in encasing the human body and the severed head in big blocks of glass.

Now days we hear this and we think its ridiculous. Obviously the body needs oxygen to get preserved, but even if some of the tissue still has water it would break down at some point.
And all the rotting tissue would get stuck in the bottom of the cavity and it would give us the looks of a good old' zombie.

I would make an awesome decoration for the living room though.
